Detention of electioneering agent of Uladzimir Niakliayeu
Siarhei Vazniak, an electioneering agent of the presidential candidate Uladzimir Niakliayeu, has been detained in Minsk today.
Mr. Vazniak has informed Euroradio that a stranger phoned him in the morning and offered some
printed materials for the election campaign. ‘The anonymous person said he had some printed
materials that could interest me and asked me to come to his garage. I arrived
there and we did not even have time to look through the materials – we were
attacked by special police troops. The police tried to take away my phone but I
showed them my certificate of electioneering agent, after which they started
behaving properly.’
The activist was guarded to the Partyzanski District Police Department of Minsk
and was kept there for about two hours. He was released after giving written
explanations and signing the police report.
