On 22 December, during a final meeting of Mahiliou regional election commission, Uladzimir Parfionau, activist of United Civil Party Mahiliou office and a commission member, made a public statement, denouncing the official voting results in the region.
The activist argues that the election progress in Mahiliou region failed to be fair and open, since the local election officials were not able to arrange a transparent count of votes.
“The vote count procedures were closed. The observers were deprived of opportunities to monitor the contents of the ballots. Thus, considering the violations of the Electoral Code, I cannot view the voting in Mahiliou region transparent and fair”, says Mr. Parfionau.
