"Reporters without Borders" demand to release journalists
The international human rights organization "Reporters without Borders" demands to release the journalists detained on December 19 in Minsk, reports BelaPAN.
"We demand that all the journalists detained on December 19 in Minsk should be released immediately and unconditionally", — says the statement published at the organization's official web-site on December 22.
"Reporters without Borders" call on the governments of Russia and the European countries, as well as European and international institutions to press on the Belarusian authorities to make them stop repressions against journalists.
The organization is convinced that the Belarusian government treats its people with "great despise" and does not fulfill its international obligations.
The "modest progress", which could be observed recently in Belarus was nothing more that a tactical shield, state the human rights activists. They think that the situation in Belarus, as well as its international relations, will deteriorate if the authorities "do not change their policy immediately".
