25 appeals submitted by Vitsebsk observers
According to information provided by Vitsebsk human rights defenders, local observers have lodged 25 complaints with the Central Election Commission, calling for avoid the voting results at a number of the city’s polling stations.
Khrystafor Zhaliapau, For Freedom regional coordinator, the movement’s observers have submitted 24 complaints against election violations in Vitsebsk region.
“Half of the polling stations commissions failed to publish separate results for the early voting and the polling day. Meanwhile, it was the early voting that provided Lukashenka with up to 50 % of votes”, says Mr. Zhaliapau.
According to Khrystafor Zhaliapau, the early vote landslide is very dubious, as local independent observers report opposing results at the few polling stations, where observation was not banned by election officials, e.g. four polling stations in Vitsebsk and Verkhniadzvinsk, with 47-48 % of votes for Lukashenka.
“The available facts allow concluding that the voting results at a number of polling stations should not be considered valid. We appeal the violations at the CEC, while the public media report no election abuses”, says Mr. Zhaliapau.
