Election aftermath: Aliaksandr Lukashenka's electoral team wasn't represented in the Homel region
In the beginning of December 2010 a Homel human rights
defender Anatol Paplauny caught in action several activists of the Belarusian
Republican Youth Union (BRSM) who were handing out agitation materials of
Aliaksandr Lukashenka without imprint.
Mr. Paplauny submitted to the Central Election Commission a complaint against
violation of the electoral legislation, asked to hold a check-up on this
incident and issue the electoral team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka with a warning.
The CEC forwarded the complaint to the Homel Regional Election Commission,
which gave an answer to Mr. Paplauny in December. However, its content is still
of considerable interest. 'Your complaint contains no information about the
persons who, according to Your opinion, distribute the electoral program of the
presidential candidate Aliaksandr Lukashenka in the Chyhunachny district of
Homel. There is also no evidence that they are members of the BRSM. Thus, it is
impossible to warn unidentified individuals about responsibility... It's also
worth mentioning that there is no electoral team of the presidential candidate
Aliaksandr Lukashenka in the Homel region.' reads the answer signed by the
Deputy Chairperson of the Homel Regional Election Commission Aliaksandr Usau.
If there was no electoral team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka in the Homel region,
who held electoral pickets and collected 160,000 signatures in his favor there?
