Andrei Pachobut, a journalist for Gazeta Wyborcza and a popular Belarusian blogger, was detained by special task forces in Hrodna on 8 January, guarded to a KGB department, and beaten by KGB officers at the questioning.
The journalist described this on his blog.
'Today, at 4:00 p.m. I was detained by special task forces at the entrance to my house. I was guarded to the KGB department. After 2 hours and 46 minutes of the vain attempts to make me talk (I even was hit in my head several times), the obviously furious KGB officers handed me in a sheet of paper signed by General Korzh, the chief of the KGB directorate for the Hrodna region,' wrote Andrei Pachobut.
