KGB continues searches and interrogations
Minsk
KGB officers held a search at the apartment where Iryna Charniauka, a
journalist for the BelSat TV channel,
lived. The apartment belongs to her sister. The search ended at 4.15 p.m. The
system block of Charniauka’s computer and several CDs were confiscated. Then
Iryna was taken to KGB, for an interrogation. She managed to tell human rights defenders
that it can concern Aliaksei Mikhalevich’s case.
The Minsk KGB also interrogated the Young
Front activists Viktoryia Ladzis and Tatsiana Shaputska as suspects in the ‘mass
riot’ case.
On 12 January KGB interrogated the Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian
Association of Journalists Andrei Bastunets.
The same day an activist of the civil campaign European Belarus Aliaksandr Vasileuski was guarded to KGB. Mr. Vasileuski
had served 15-day arrest for participation in the 19 December protest rally.
Mazyr
KGB invited several Young Front activists
for interrogations over the phone. However, as said by one of them, Siarhei
Amialchuk, they demanded to be issued with official writs.
Homel
KGB officers interrogated a Homel activist Anton Nazaranka.
Haradok
KGB held a search at the apartment of an activist of the Speak Truth civil campaign Leanid
Autukhou, who had collected signatures in support of the candidacy of Uladzimir
Niakliayeu and attended several electoral meetings with the candidate.
