Today Thomas Melia, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, had a meeting with the activists of the Human Rights Center “Viasna”.
The meeting dealt with the recent wave of harassment against the families of detainees, currently in custody in the KGB prison.
Viasna lawyer Valiantsin Stefanovich stressed the prisoners lack access to legal protection.
“We spoke on the ongoing wave of repressions. It can be clearly seen now, that the mass riot criminal case has but one aim: pressure on society and intimidation”, says Mr. Stefanovich.
