On 8 February Yauhen Khatkevich, Judge of the Maskouski District Court of Minsk, sentenced a Minsk resident Mikhas Lebedz to 12 days of arrest.

Mr. Lebedz was found guilty of participation in a picket of solidarity held by activists of youth organizations in Nezalezhnastsi Square in Minsk on 20 December.

The administrative case of the detainee was considered several times, as the police witnesses were giving discrepant testimonies. During the last sitting the defendant informed the court about lodging a complaint with the procuracy concernign the unlawful detention. The judge announced a break to familiarize with the results of the prosecutorial check-up.

Mikhas Lebedz was detained on 20 December on the way to St. Symon and Alena church in central Minsk. He was knocked down and hit with a truncheon several times and then pulled into a police car. Several hours after the detention officers of the delinquents' isolation center in Akrestsin Street called an ambulance for the activist, which took him to the Minsk clinical hospital No. 10.
