Journalists not admitted to consideration of Avtoradio lawsuit

On 11 February the Supreme Economic Court of Belarus started considering the lawsuit of the radio station Avtoradio against the annulment of its license. The journalists weren’t admitted to the court sitting because some ‘confidential information’ was to be considered at it.

Bear in mind that on 12 January the license of Avtoradio was annulled on the basis of the ruling of the Republican Commission on TV and Radio #188/11 of 11 January 2011, signed by the Deputy Minister of Information Aleh Praliaskouski, according to which the radio station had broadcasted public calls to extremist activities.
