Detainee’s mother appeals detention conditions of her son
Mrs. Klaudziya Bulanava, mother of Dzmitry Bulanau, accused of participation in the 19 December mass riots, has lodged another appeal to the General Prosecutor’s Office, complaining about inhuman detention conditions at Minsk pre-trial prison #1 in Valadarski Street.
Mrs. Bulanava says that huge draughts in the prison cell provoked her son’s rheumatism. Besides, Dzmitry Bulanau is allergic. The treatment he is being given at the prison hospital has so far deteriorated Dzmitry’s health.
On 18 February, Dzmitry’s lawyer told Mrs. Bulanava that the detainee could not rise to his feet due to acute joint pains.
“Under these circumstances, my son is on the edge of losing his health and life, as the detention conditions do not allow recovering even with medical treatment”, says Klaudziya Bulanava.
The prisoner’s mother calls upon the prosecuting authorities to release her son on recognizance.
