On 1 March Iryna Saroka,
judge of the Mahiliou Leninski District Court, considered the administrative
case of Maksim Antsypovich, charged with participation in an unauthorized
picket on 16 January, and fined him 525,000 rubles (about $175).
Bear in mind that on 8 February the Leninski District Court of Mahiliou had tried
three participants of the picket. A member of the Belarusian Popular Front
Party Valiantsin Labachou was punished with 7 days of arrest, Siarhei Niahatsin
– with 5 days of arrest and Natallia Shkadun was warned. All of them lodged
appeals against the verdict with the Mahiliou
Region Court. The trial will take place on 10
March.
