15 “police victims” won’t be dismissed from work
This is the answer given to Dzmitry Salauyou, Chair of the Mahiliou
regional organization of the Belarusian Popular Front Adradzhenne by A.Lukomski, commander of the special mission police regiment
of the Main Police Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Bear in mind that on 3 March Dzmitry Salauyou addressed the Interior Minister Anatol Kuliashous with the request to immediately
dismiss from the police the wollowing officers: Bulavatski, Dalidovich,
Ivashko, Karavayeu, Kashtalan, Komar, Kudrautsau, Liavitski, Masalski,
Palavinkin, Pilipeika, Sapach, Volkau and Ziankevich for the failure to conform
to the requirements of special mission forces.
According to Dzmitry Salauyou, the reason for their dismissal is their complete
moral and physical slovenliness, as people who received
special training and were armed with police gear were allegedly beaten by two
young participants of the post-election protest action in Nezalezhansts Square in Minsk on 19 December, Artyom Breus and Ivan
Gaponov.
Dzmitry Salauyou says that, according to the answer to his
letter the information that was set forth there was not confirmed.
"If the information proved to be false as a result of an internal
check-up, it means that the police officers lied under oath and the Russian
citizens must be justified, because the accusation was grounded on false
testimonies. As we see from the answer of the riot police, they weren’t beaten
by anyone,” states Mr. Salauyou.
However, on 10 March the Maskouski District Court sentenced the citizens of the
Russian Federation Artyom Breus and Ivan Gaponov to fines of 10.5 million
rubles (about $350) for active participation in the “mass riot” and beating 15
riot policemen who testified at the trial.
