A Homel resident Volha
Liamtsava took an active part in the electoral team of the presidential candidate
Uladzimir Niakliayeu during the recent presidential election. He distributed
informational leaflets, took part in electoral pickets and observed the
election.
She worked as a traffic controller at a private enterprise at the time. Her
direct boss told her that she would have problems because of her activism and
advised to stop it. However, she didn’t obey.
After the election, she faced wage arrears. Her wage was decreased and she was
forced to work extra hours without being paid for it.
“Sometimes I would come home after my shift and receive telephone orders to
return and work for another day in a row. Finally, I asked the administration
about the reasons for such attitude. The boss answered that he had warned me
about the possible problems and I could resign if I didn’t like anything,”
commented Volha. As a result, she had to resign from her job and now is looking
for another one.
