On 28 April, Homel city authorities reversed their earlier decision on authorization of a May Day opposition rally applied for by local activists of the Fair World Belarusian United Left Party.
“I was invited to the city executive committee and told that the rally had been banned due to “heating network maintenance” on a plaza outside local Deaf Club, the expected venue of the event”, says Mr. Uladzimir Siakerka, local Fair World leader. “They are afraid to hear the people’s voice”, says the politician.
