Barysau organization of United Civil Party appeals December search
The organization applied to the Minsk Region Procuracy
with the request to check the legality of the warrant of the senior
investigator of the Minsk City and Region KGB Department, justice captain
A.Darashevich for searching the office of the Barysau town UCP organizatioin,
and the legality of actions of the policemen who had conducted the search.
The search was conducted on 22 December 2010. According to the appeal, 42 items
were confiscated from the office as a result of the search, including blanks of
violations of electoral legislation, statements, minutes of previous electoral
campaigns, outdated informational materials and two officially registered flags
– a flag of the United Civil Party and a flag of the Independent Trade Union of
Radio Electronic Industry. Nothing has been returned so far.
The search was conducted in the absence of UCP members. Moreover, though the
official reason for the search was the “mass riot” that had allegedly taken
place on 19 December 2010 in
central Minsk,
the confiscated things can hardly have any relation to these events.
