One more person, Svyataslaw Baranovich, has been charged in a
mass disorder case opened following a post-election protest that was
staged in central Minsk on December 19, 2010.
Mr.
Baranovich was charged with participation in mass disorder under Part
Two of the Criminal Code’s Article 293 on June 21, human rights defender
Anastasiya Loyka told BelaPAN.
He is held in the Number One Detention Center of the city police department, she said.
According to unconfirmed reports, Mr. Baranovich served a 10-day jail sentence shortly after the street protest.
More
than 40 people have been charged under the Criminal Code in connection
with the demonstration. Most of them, including five former presidential
candidates, have already been convicted.
