On 2 July evening the politician Stanislau Shushkevich
and 15 students of the European
Humanities University
set down the train Vilnius-Minsk on the Belarusian border. The detainees were
kept on the border for six hours.
The alleged reason for the detention of the students was that one of them was
allegedly trafficking illegal drugs. The reason for the detention of
Shushkevich was that his passport “looked suspicious” and could be forged.
There's no wonder – the actions of the border guards were directed by some
people in civvies. They videoed the detainees and ordered them to tell their
names and surnames. In six hours, all detainees were let go without getting any
charges.
