Homel: UCP member Uladzimir Niapomniashchykh detained and fined
A former policeman, member of the United Civil Party Uladzimir
Niapomniashchykh was detained on Peramoha
street on 5 July.
He was standing at a bus stop, wearing a T-shirt with the inscriptions “19
December – bloody Sunday!” and “Down with fascism!”. Niapomnishchykh was
detained by the police ensign Valiantsin Harbachou and junior sergeant Rustam
Ismailau. The detainee was guarded to the Chynunachny District Police Department
of Homel, and then – to the Chyhunachny District Court, where he was sentenced
to a fine of 350,000 rubles.
He was charged under Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses,
“violation of the order of organizing and holding mass events”. The testimony
against him was given by Uladzimir Chumakou, junior research worker of the Transport University. According to him
Niapomniaschykh had allegedly agitated passers-by to take part in the silent
protest action on 6 June. Chumakou also said he disliked the inscription on the
T-shirt, to which Niapomniashchykh answered that he couldn't write hail to
fascism there.
