Police beat journalist of Vecherniy Grodno
On 7 July Polina Zhuravlyova, a journalist for the Vecherniy
Grodno newspaper, paid a
visit to the forensic expertise in order to register her injuries.
According to her at about 7 p.m. on 6 July she was walking towards the Karchma
cafe and were approached by two unidentified women. Soon some unidentified
men came towards them. They turned her upside down several times. As a result
the woman fell on her back and head. Then she was thrown into a police car. An
elderly man was thrown down on her, as a result of which it was difficult for
her to breeze. The police took the detainees to the Kastrychnitski District
Police Department of Hrodna without giving any explanations.
At the police department it was found out that Polina Zhuravlyova is a citizen
of the Russian Federation.
She was charged with violating the regime of temporary residence, as she was
registered in Vaukavysk, where her husband lived, but lived and worked in
Hrodna.
Polina felt bad during the preliminary interrogation and was hospitalized. Now
she intends to apply to the procuracy concerning the unlawful actions of the
unidentified people. She also applied to the Consulate of the Russian Federation
in Hrodna in order to get legal aid.
