Tatsiana Seviarynets got fined
Tatsiana Seviarynets, the mother of the political
prisoner Pavel Seviarynets and a member of the organizing committee of the
Belarusian Christian Democracy, was detained in Vitsebsk in the evening of 8
July and taken to the police where she was interrogated. She spent the weekend
at the police station.
On 11 July she was tried. The court found her guilty of organizing an
unauthorized procession on 3 July and fined her 700,000 rubles.
The real reason for the detention is that the pro-regime mass feast Slavonic
Bazaar takes place in Vitsebsk these days. The police haunted the woman
during the 3 July mass protest action, which could be seen on the video that
was demonstrated at the trial. While Tatsiana was sitting at the police
department, she often heard the policemen use four-letter words. However, they
are never punished for it in Belarus.
