Andrei Sannikau transferred to cell with more prisoners
The health of the presidential candidate has
deteriorated.
On 12 July a lawyer visited the Interior Ministry’s
detention facility and had a meeting with presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau
sentenced to 5 years in a medium security penal colony for a protest
demonstration against the flawed presidential elections.
As charter97.org learnt from the wife of the political prisoner, Iryna Khalip,
Sannikau had been transferred to a cell where 12 people are kept. “The
conditions are definitely worse there. This is a more crowded and stuffy cell.
Andrei asked to pass him medicines for gout and painkillers, which allows
making a logical conclusion that his health has deteriorated.
I am hurrying to the detention facility to pass medicines to him, but I
am not sure if they will accept painkillers. Transferring Andrei to a worse
cell can be regarded as additional pressure on him,” Iryna Khalip thinks.
