Mother of detained boy denied right to appeal detention of her small son
Volha Chaichyts received an answer to her complaint to the procuracy concerning
the detention of her 1,5-year-old boy. Strangely enough, the answer came from the
court.
According to the answer, signed by the head of the court, M.Zhakevich, the
complaint is not liable for consideration, as actions and decisions of judges
can be appealed only by the sides of a trial. Meanwhile, there was no trial concerning
the detention.
“I appealed the unlawful detention of my son at the procuracy, but received an
answer from the court. However, my son wasn’t tired, unlike my father. So, the police
can snatch the son out of my hands anywhere and nobody will consider this
violation,’ commented Volha Chaichuts.
Bear in mind that Volha’s son Yan and his grandfather had been detained during
the silent protest action of 3 July in Smaliavichy. The boy was returned to the
mother 30 minutes after the detention. On 4 July Volha Chaichyts applied to the
procuracy. Uladzimir Chaichyts was fined 1,050,000 rubles, allegedly because of
“insubordination to the police”.
