Chronicle of 13 July protests in Minsk: people are sentenced to arrest
13 July
Policemen and people in mufti controlled the main
places of gathering of protesters: the supermarkets Eurapeiski, Ryha,
Chkalauski, Belarus, Karona and Niamiha.
The Belarusian Internet providers temporary blocked the access to the social
network Vkontakte all over Belarus.
7.26 p.m. Cameraman Pavel Padabed and journalist Zakhar Shcharbakou (both
working for the BelaPAN news agency) were detained on the way from the Karona
supermarket to the Frunzenskaya metro station. Five other people
were detained with them. The detentions were conducted by people in mufti.
7.56 p.m. Two youngsters with knapsacks were detained near the Kastrychnik cinema.
8.05 p.m. People in mufti started detaining people on Yakub Kolas Square, taking people to a minibus
without number plates. At lease five people were detained. A paddy wagon and a
police bus arrived. About 30 people in mufti went out. They started attacking
the present journalists, knocking cameras out of their hands. Unidentified
people beat Anton Matolka, a photo correspondent for tut.by.
8.15 p.m. People in mufti leave the square.
8.30 p.m. Four more people were detained behind the monument to Yakub Kolas.
The journalists who try to make photos or videos, are hit on the arms, hands
and cameras.
8.55 Yahor Kantsin and Andrei Tsimashenka were taken to the Savetski District
Police Department.
9.22 p.m. 13 more detainees were taken to the Savetski DPD.
9.38 p.m. Aleh Hruzdzilovich, a journalist for Radio Liberty, was taken to the Savetski
DPD. He was detained in the metro on the Yakub Kolas Square station.
9.59 p.m. There were about 20 detainees in the Savetski DPD.

10.15 p.m. We learned the surnames of some more detainees: Ivan Amelchanka,
Aliaksandr Busel (detained on a tramway stop), Ales Krot. All of them were
taken to the Savetski DPD.
10.55 p.m. Journalist Aleh Hruzdzilovich was released from the Savetski DPD. He
told that ten more people were kept there. The police fingerprinted and
photographed them, and then started drawing up violation reports. The police
took away the piece of paper on which he wrote the surnames of the detainees.
11.45 p.m. All detainees were given charges under Article 17.1 of the Code of
Administrative Offenses, “disorderly conduct”, and taken to the prison in Akrestsin Street.
14 July
Vital Strui was detained on 13 July for observing the situation outside the
Pershamaiski DPD. He was detained, charged under Article 17.1 and taken to the
prison in Akrestsin Street.
On 14 July he was fined 350,000 rubles
by the Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk. According to him, about 10
people were taken to the Pershamaiski DPD on 13 July. Two under-aged girls were
released from there.
The Savetski District Court
Ten people were taken to the court. A woman in mufti videoed all present
people.
Ivan Amelchanka – tried by Judge Dzmitry Pauliuchenka, the trial was postponed to 15 July;
Aliaksandr Busel – sentenced to 10 days of arrest by Juge Anzhalika Mazouka;
Yahor Kantsin – sentenced to 10 days of arrest by Juge Anzhalika Mazouka;
Siarhei Krukouski – sentenced to 8 days of arrest by Juge Anzhalika Mazouka;
Aleh Khiliazhau – sentenced to 10 days of arrest by judge Dzmitry Pauliuchenka;
Ales Krot – sentenced to 15 days of arrest by Judge Pratasenia;
Sidarau – 10 days of arrest;
Andrei Tsimashenka – sentenced to 5 days of arrest by judge Dzmitry
Pauliuchenka;
Vaitovich – 3 days of arrest;
Illia Ziankevich – sentenced to 10 days of arrest by Judge Dzmitry
Pauliuchenka.
The Tsentralny District Court
Two people were tried there:
Pavel Khadzinski (born in 1985) – fined 700,000 rubles by Judge Shumak;
Maksim Yuzafovich (born in 1988) – sentenced to 10 days of arrest.
