Rechytsa civil activist Viktar Kantsavenka, known as former campaign chief of presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich, has received political asylum in Poland, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
Mr. Kanstavenka left Belarus for Ukraine and later moved to Poland after dozens of former campaign chiefs were arrested in the aftermath of the 2010 presidential election. The KGB reportedly charged the activist with plotting street disturbances.
