Marek Migalski, Member of the European Parliament, has been banned to visit Belarus, an immigration official in Minsk said on 27 July.

Mr. Migalski’s office applied for Viasna’s assistance in arranging the MEP’s visit to Belarus on 12-26 August. However, human rights defenders have been told that Marek Migalski was banned to enter the country.

Marek Migalski, member of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with Belarus who took over a prisoner's godparenthood for Zmitser Bandarenka has paid much attention to the post-election situation in Belarus, cooperating with various initiatives of support to victims of political repressions and Belarusian civil society.

Earlier this year, Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament, and MEP Jacek Protasiewicz were also banned to visit Belarus.
