Marek Migalski filed inquiry with the EU Commission concerning the case of Ales Bialiatski
Following the denunciatory statement by the Chair of
the EU Parliament Jerzy Buzek, an inquiry concerning Bialiatski's case was made
by member of the European Parliament Marek Migalski.
“I addressed the European Commission with a written inquiry concerning the
detention of Ales Bialiatski, knowing that the Belarusian authorities again
violate fundamental human rights by their actions. The Commission has three
days for giving an answer in this case. We also forwarded this information to mass
media in order to inform the society about another case of arbitrary detention.
I also sent a letter to Jacek Protasievicz, Chair of the Delegation of the
European Parliament on Belarus'
affairs, a letter with the aim to coordinate actions on preventing another wave
of repressions,” said Mr. Migalski.
Marek Migalski actively engaged into support to victims of repressions in Belarus.
Several months ago his bureau became one of the organizers of collecting money
and computers for the Human
Rights Center
Viasna after the confiscation of equipment.
