Ten days of arrest for solidarity with political prisoner Dashkevich
On 9 August
Raman Vasiliieu was sentenced to ten days of arrest for participation in the
picket of solidarity with political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich that had been
held on 2 August in the town of Horki.
Four policemen testified against him at the trial. Raman confessed having taken
part in the picket, but didn’t plead guilty. “It wasn’t me who violated the
law, it was the officers of the colony who don’t let Dashkevich meet with his
lawyer,” he said at the trial.
Bear in mind that the day he was kept in custody following the detention on 2
August wasn’t taken into account, that’s why he will be released only on 19
August. By the way, the trial of Mr. Vasiliieu started on 3 August, but was
postponed after the defendant solicited for being provided with advocatory
services.
