Police gathers information about Vital Rymasheuski’s relatives
Co-Chair of the organizing committee of the BCD Vital Rymasheuski,
sentenced to 2 years of conditional imprisonment for participation in the
peaceful action of protest held on 19 December 2010, came to the Frunzenski
District Police Department in Minsk
for registration.
He undertook not to change the place of his residence, not to leave Minsk for more than a
month and not to be a defendant in criminal or administrative
cases related to violation of public order.
During the registration Vital Rymasheuski noticed in his case blanks with
detailed information about him, his wife and her relatives. He wasn’t allowed
to familiarize with the content of the cards, though.
"I consider this fact as illegal and outrageous.
Actions of the police violate not only my rights but the rights of my
relatives. It means that I can be arrest for wiredrawn reasons.
The Belarusian system went further than Stalin’s one: in our country not only
people become responsible for their deeds, but also their families.
Bear in mind that in summer 2010 the authorities required information not only
about Rymasheuski’s income, but also about the income of his father.
