“The Belarusians are fighting for democracy just like the Poles did in the 20th century. The decision by a Polish official undermines the idea of solidarity”, Marek Migalski, member of the European Parliament and deputy chair of the EP’s delegation on Belarus-EU relations, said during a press-conference on Ales Bialiatski’s arrest.
“In case the decision by the prosecutor’s office was taken under the existing legislation, this unfavourable legislation should be amended by politicians. The Prosecutor General’s objective is to study the issue in the shortest time possible. In case the law was broken, the official should be punished for his decision”, said Mr. Migalski.
