On 30 August Judge of the Savetski District Court of Homel Shaustruk found Ihar Sluchak, a member of the United Civil Party, guilty of using obscene language in public (Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). He was sentenced to 3 days of arrest (which he served awaiting the trial) and was released from custody right in the court hall.

Ihar Sluchak was detained on 26 August, allegedly because he beat and insulted a passer-by. However, he is convinced that the real reason is his public activities. For instance, he intended to discuss the ways to reform the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Witnesses of the accusation gave addle testimonies. The “victim” whom Sluchak had allegedly beaten, has been drawn to administrative responsibility 7 times. The riot policemen who had detained the defendant gave contradictory testimonies as well. According to one of them the incident took place at 3.30 – 4.00 p.m., according to the other – at 4 p.m.
