Well-known Czech human rights defenders sign personal guarantee for Ales Bialiatski
A number of famous public figures and human rights
activists signed personal guarantees for the arrested Chair of the Human Rights
Center Viasna Ales Bialiatski. All in all, 54
such papers were passed by them.
Among the signers there are:
Daniel Korte, a Czech MP, well-known linguist and translator of medieval
literature;
Libor Dvořák, a
well-known journalist who covers human rights violations in post-Soviet
countries;
Petruska Sustrova, a well-known dissident, signer of Charter’77 who served a
prison term in 1969-1971 for opposition activities and occupied the position of
the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in 1990-1992, preparing the law on
lustration. At present she is a translator, a member of the Civil Belarus association;
Katerina Spacova, executive director of Civil
Belarus;
Radek Dvořáček, lawyer, former
activist of Amnesty International;
Martin Vidvák, a member of Civil Belarus;
Milan Štefanec,
human rights defender, a member of Nesehnuti.
