Actions against Bialiatski's arrest held in Armenia, Kirghistan, Russia and Ukraine
On 4 September a month turned since the detention of
Ales Bialiatski, Chair of the Belarusian Human Rights Center Viasna,
vice-President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).
International human rights organizations consider this arrest as revenge of the
authorities for his human rights activities and an attempt to intimidate the
national civil society. They demanded to immediately release the human rights
defender. Amnesty International declared Ales a prisoner of conscience.
According to information of the website Armenia Today, at 2-3
p.m. on 5 September the Committee of International Control over the situation
with human rights in the Republic of Belarus (whose representative in Armenia
is the Helsinki Association) holds an action in support of Ales Bialiatski.
Street actions in support of Ales Bialiatski are also
held in Russia, Ukraine and
Kirghistan.
