Homel: civil activist detained for borrowing money

On 4 September civil activist Vasil Takarenka was
detained in Homel by officers of the economical crime department dressed in
civil clothes.
A friend of his borrowed him 250,000 rubles at the entrance of the Homel hotel.
Hardly did the man manage to put the money into his pocket, when two people in
civvies ran up to him. Mr. Takarenka was detained and guarded to the police
station. They confiscated from him the borrowed money, but left him 1,000
rubles so that he could get home.
The detainee was charged with violation of the rules of operations with
currency. Now he can be fine up to 10.5 million rubles or sentenced to an
arrest term.
