Trade union activist Henadz Fiadynich detained by police
On 8 September Henadz Fiadynich, Chair of the
Independent Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry, was detained by the
Salihorsk road police.
The activist was going to a meeting with Salihorsk residents, but was taken to
the Salihorsk District Police Department instead of it. The police confiscated
from him leaflets with economic demands and invitatioins to the People's
Assembly that would be held on 8 October.
As Mr. Fiadynich told praca-by.info, the meeting in Salihorsk was appointed on
8 p.m., but took place at 10 p.m. only, thanks to the «vigilant» police. At the
police department he was asked where he was going and why. He told the
policemen about the meeting. The witnesses who were persented during the
confiscation of the leaflets paid interest to the People's Assembly and even
took contact information from Mr. Fiadynich.
The head of the DPD threatened to imprison the activist for 15 days, but the
later asked him to wait for a day, as on 8 September he and his wife celebrated
an anniversary of their marriage. In several hours Henadz Fiadynich was
released from the DPD.
