KGB: another recruitment failure
The activist of the youth democratic
movement in Homel, Ksenia Yaraslautsava, says a KGB officer tried to recruit
her.
The girl took part in silent protests this summer. Together with other young
people, she was detained on 5 September when collecting signatures for holding
the People’s Assembly.
As Ksenia Yaraslautsava told BelaPAN,
inspector Yury Kazlou phoned her on September 14 and invited her to a police
station to talk.
“When I came, policemen asked me to leave my bag and cell phone in one office
and then took me in another office, where an unknown man in mufti was waiting
for me. He did not say his surname, but said he was a KGB officer. He offered
me collaboration. It means I was supposed to spy on my friends. He was
interested whom of opposition members in Homel I know. He also threatened I
could face problems with work and study if I refused and reminded I have a
child and should think about him,” the activist said.
