Homel court turns down complaint by local activist
On 28 September, Homel regional court dismissed an appeal by local civil activist and a student of law at Tartu University Ihar Sluchak, contesting an earlier verdict of 3 days of arrest, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
Ihar Sluchak was sentenced to three days of administrative arrest for alleged disorderly conduct back on 28 August. According to the police report, he pushed local resident with a shoulder, who later reported the incident to the police.
During the trial, Ihar Sluchak claimed he had never seen the alleged victim. Besides, it turned out that the claimant had been prosecuted for 7 times under administrative procedures.
The preventive detention is linked to his activities in a campaign for reforming the Interior Ministry, says Ihar Sluchak.
