Lida authorities ban People's Assembly

According to the answer of the Lida authorities to the
applicants, the application for holding the People's Assembly didn't conform to
requirements of Article 5 of the Law “On mass events” as it didn't indicate who
was responsible for securing the public order during the assembly.
Uladzimir Krutsikau, an organizer of the People's Assembly, says that the
necessary number of signatures for a lawful assembly has been collected. Now
the organizers are thinking over the possible ways to hold the action. The
People's Assembly was appointed on 8 October and will take place in Minsk and other towns and cities of Belarus.
