Maladechna: detention during state festival “Dazhynki”
On 1 October opposition activist Siarhei Hirkin was
detained at the railway station in Maladechna. He was kept in the transport
police station for about an hour. The detention was connected to the festival.
Siarzhuk was returning to Mahiliou from his friend Uladz Shulzhytski, who lives
in Smarhon. He had a change in Maladechna. The police were waiting for him at
the platform. They examined his rucksack and then took him to the police
station. They didn't explain the reasons for the detention and threatened to
take him to a narcological expertise if he would ask too many questions.
While keeping him in detention, the policemen spent much time trying to open
some database. They had a long talk with the detainee, asked him about the aims
of his trip and then released him.
