Andrei Tsianiuta was arrested for 10 days in Homel for
handing out invitations to the People’s Assembly which will take place on 8
October in Minsk and other towns and cities of Belarus.
Leanid Sudalenka, legal inspector of the Trade Union of Radio Electronic
Industry in the Homel region, helped him to compose an appeal against the
unlawful punishment.
The matter is that Andrei Tsianiuta had been tried for an alleged violation of
the law “On Mass Events”, whereas in fact his actions were to have been
considered within the framework of another law, “On National and Local
Assemblies”.
