On 4 October Pavel Staneuski, deputy chairman of the
Hrodna regional branch of the Belarusian Leftist Party “Fair World”, was
summonsed to the police department.
Police major Valery Salauyou told him that the police had found leaflets with
invitations to the People’s Assembly in Leninski Kamsamol Strip. There was
Staneuski’s telephone on the leaflets.
Pavel Staneuski answered that he was a member of a legal political party and
had the right to distribute such leaflets according to Article 37 of the
Constitution.
Nevertheless, major Salauyou warned him about administrative responsibility for
organizing unauthorized actions.
