The Brest City Executive Committee prohibited holding
three pickets in Savetskaya Street.
The aim of the pickets was drawing public attention to the necessity of
ratification of the agreement about the border-line movement with Poland, which
would simplify the rules trans-border movement for residents of the
50-kilometer border zone.
The official reason for the ban is that the organizers wanted to hold the
picket in an unauthorized place, and also didn't conclude service agreements
with the police, the medics and the public utilities.
According to one of the picket organizers, Hanna Kanius, more than 2000 people
have signed the address calling the authorities to ratify the agreement as soon
as possible.
