Biaroza resident Mrs. Halina Kavalevich, beaten by riot policemen, has finally received a reply by deputy police chief Aliaksandr Khutko, claiming that the policemen’s actions were lawful.
In his response, the high police official referred to a resolution by investigator Mikhail Selekh of Ivatsevichy prosecutor’s office. However, he omitted the fact that the investigator recommended to punish the policemen who illegally used violence against an elderly woman.
Mrs. Kavalevich was detained during one of so called “silent protests”, as she was sitting on a bench and reading a newspaper.
