Minsk Regional Court has dismissed a cassational appeal by Henadz Fiadynich, chair of the Radio Electronic Industry Trade Union, who was fined BYR 700,000 for alleged involvement in organizing an unauthorized mass rally back in September.

Henadz Fiadynich was charged with advertising the People’s Assembly with leaflets that were sized by the police from his car.

“We are going to appeal the verdict in a superior court, and then, if it is dismissed again, we will submit a complaint to the UN Human Rights Committee,” says the trade union leader.

Apart from that Mr. Fiadynich says he has sent letters to the Prosecutor General, the Interior Minister and the Supreme Court, urging the high officials to implement the provisions of the Law “On National and Local Assemblies.”
