The Supreme Court has dismissed a complaint by civil activist Mikalai Ulasevich against President Lukashenka’s Decree #418 on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Astravets district, Hrodna region, www.harodniaspring.org reports.
Mikalai Ulasevich, one of the coordinators of the civil initiative “Astravets NPP is a Crime”, argued that the President’s Decree contradicts Article 18 of the Belarusian Constitution, which states that Belarus is a nuclear-free zone.
In its reply, the Supreme Court refers to the Civil Code of Procedures, which bans judicial prosecution of President.
Mr. Ulasevich says the Supreme Court’s treatment of the legal provisions is unlawful and is going to appeal the decision with the Supreme Court’s Chair.
