Vasil Paliakou, the head of the organizing
committee of People’s Assembly in Homel, has gone on hunger strike in a
temporary detention facility in Homel. BelaPAN news agency learnt this from
human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka.
Paliakou went on hunger strike protesting against unfair,
in his view, court decision to arrest him. “An officer on duty in the detention
facility told me about the hunger strike. He allowed passing juice and water to
Paliakou. After I demanded to give me the book of complaints, I was allowed to
pass juice and water for Valery Rybchanka from Zhlobin, who also serves his
arrest there,” the human rights activist said. Paliakou was sentenced to five
days in custody on 9 November.
