French Foreign Ministry: Official Paris shocked by verdict to Byalyatski
Official Paris shocked by the verdict of the court in the case of Ales Byalyatski, a Belarusian human rights activist, and calls upon his release again, stated the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of France, Bernard Valereau.
“France is shocked by the decision to sentence Ales Byalyatski to 4.5 years’ imprisonment on purely political motives as a result of the unfair trial,” Bernard Valereau said at a briefing on Thursday, RIA Novosti informs.
As said by him, France regrets that Belarusian authorities had closed ears to the calls to release Byalyatski and other political prisoners.
“France with its partners in the EU calls to release Byalyatski immediately, and reiterates its call to release all political prisoners and stop prosecution against them,” stated the official representative of the Foreign Ministry.
