Navapolatsk: picket banned four times
Members of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union from
the “Naftan” plant have received a fourth ban on holding a picket aimed at
informing Navapolatsk citizens about the refusal of the plant administration to
conclude a collective agreement with the independent trade union.
The administration signed the collective agreements which had been worked out
by representatives of the pro-governmental “Belkhimprafsayuz” (Belarusian
Chemical Trade Union) and members of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union. However,
only representatives of the former one were admitted to the procedure of
signing. BITU members were denied in drafting and signing a separate agreement.
Activists of the independent trade union consider the picket bans as groundless
and state that such steps just increase social tension at the enterprise.
