Warning issued to Uladzimir Niakliayeu
The prosecutor’s office of Leninski
district of Minsk has issued an official warning to the presidential candidate
Uladzimir Niakliayeu.
The Prosecutor’s office has warned Niakliayeu that suspension of the punishment
could be annulled, and the politician himself could be sent into prison, in
case he is going to continue violate the rules of conduct made for him as for a
convicted person.
“The prosecutor’s office viewed as a violation my visit to Kreva, my
birthplace, on Dziady holiday. I came to the graves of my parents, grandparents.
Such cases are unprecedented in Belarus, when a person is punished for
remembering one’s forefathers. I think my predecessor had rolled over in their
graves,” Uladzimir Niakliayeu told Radio “Liberty”.
The politician is convinced that the summons to the
prosecutor’s office is primarily related with the coming anniversary of 19
December events. However, despite the warning, Niakliayeu will come to the
Square on 19 December anyway. A year ago he was stopped on the way to the
square: “Even their rules of conduct do not have regulations that in my city I
cannot be in a place I want on any day of the year.”
