19 December actions banned in Vitsebsk
Vitsebsk-based civil activists intended to hold a
rally near the so-called “blue house” on Lenin Street and proceed towards
Svaboda Square.
They filed applications with the Vitsebsk City Executive Committee. However,
they were turned down because the applicants hadn't concluded service
agreements with police, medics and public utilities. The applicants – Aliaksei
Haurutsikau (electioneering agent of presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich
at presidential election 2010) and Khrystafor Zhaliapau (coordinator of the
movement “For Freedom!” in the Vitsebsk region – were summonsed to the Vitsebsk
Regional Procuracy, most probably, to be warned about the inadmissibility of
holding unauthorized mass events.
One more application, filed with the Chyhunachny District Executive Committee
of Vitsebsk by an activist of the “European Belarus”, Uladzislau Varanetski,
hasn't been answered so far. Varanetski intends to hold a picket of solidarity
with political prisoners in the Culture and Recreation Park of Railway Workers.
